QTV20 Radiator Automation Kit – Smart Radiator Control, 3 Thermostatic Heads, Wireless, RF, E-Hub, OWD, App-Controlled

Q20 Underfloor Heating Automation Kit Manual

The solution we propose is a Radiator Automation Kit with a receiver for boiler activation and thermostatic heads, featuring a smart hub gateway for remote control via an app. This modern and reliable system allows for precise heating schedules, monitoring, and remote management by zones, based on the family’s routine and specific needs of each location. The product pays for itself in 3-4 heating seasons through energy savings.

The kit is designed for heating systems with radiators in houses and apartments, suitable for both new installations and existing setups.

Most smart radiator automation systems cannot control the boiler directly and require an additional thermostat or another form of activation. The QTV20 kit solves this problem. The set, through the Q20 receiver, is capable of controlling the boiler, and remote control is facilitated via the Q20 hub.

The QTV20 thermostatic heads can be used for installations with radiators only or for mixed systems in combination with Q20 floor heating automation. This is especially useful in locations where radiators are not centralized through a distributor, and control is required for individual units. The QTV20 heads connect to the Q20 automation hub, allowing the entire system to be controlled from a single interface.

  1. QTV20 Thermostatic Head

In most homes or apartments where a boiler is controlled by a thermostat, the ambient temperature across the whole area is determined by where the thermostat is placed, leading to issues such as:

  • Other rooms, depending on their size, may heat up faster or slower; this is where the remotely controlled thermostatic heads, via phone, come in handy.
  • You may want to turn on just 1-2 radiators or heat only a specific room or zone; the boiler can be activated, and the radiators can be turned on or off as desired via the app.

QTV Boiler Automation Kit Functioning Principle:

  1. The thermostatic head opens the valve when the room/zone temperature drops below the set temperature.
  2. The QTV head communicates the request via radio frequency to the Q20 receiver.
  3. The Q20 receiver sends the ON command to the boiler.
  4. The e-Hub is used for remote control of the thermostatic heads via a phone.

When the set temperature is reached, the thermostatic heads close one by one, depending on the set temperature. The boiler remains on until the last thermostatic head sends the off command.

Each thermostatic head communicates every 10 minutes with the receiver to send the command to start or stop the heating.

QTV Thermostatic Head with Modulating Control:

PI (Proportional-Integral) Technology
The QTV is an advanced thermostat that adjusts the temperature not only based on fixed on and off values (as in traditional thermostats) but also according to constant deviations between the desired and current temperatures. It can be activated from advanced settings.

How PI Technology Works:

  • Proportional: This component of control adjusts the temperature depending on how far the current temperature is from the set point. The greater the difference, the faster the thermostat’s response.
  • Integral: This component measures the cumulative deviation from the set temperature over time. If the temperature doesn’t reach the set point for an extended period, this control amplifies the response to correct the deviation.

Advantages of PI Technology:

  • Better Energy Efficiency: The thermostat continuously adjusts the heating or cooling system’s power to maintain a constant temperature, avoiding large fluctuations.
  • Increased Comfort: Due to more precise and continuous adjustments, the temperature remains more stable without large swings.
  • Extended Equipment Lifespan: Smoother operation and fewer start/stop cycles contribute to reduced wear on heating or cooling equipment.
